Country House Casino di Caccia *****

Sometimes you find a place you want to remember whenever in the neighbourhood anytime for the next 30 years. That is actually one of the reasons why I started this blog…. to remember! Casino di Caccia is one of those places. A beautiful country style boutique hotel with a only 6 rooms and 2 suites. Located only some 15 to 20 miles from the south of lake Garda and the city of Verona, an Unesco World Heritage. Casino di Caccia is an ideal place to stay to explore the area.

Originally we planned only one night but the weather expectations of the Marche area south of Custoza we had to go next was expecting bad weather so we decided to stay two instead of one night. A very good decision. The staff at Casino di Caccia was very friendly and helpful. No problem to bring a great bottle of chilled white wine to our relax area near the pool.

The restaurant is very good and offers a nice choice of dishes, cooked to perfection. The first night we had the smallest hamburger I've ever seen (see picture) and enjoyed a nice chateaubriand and the second night we went for pork and beef. The good combination of very interesting taste experiences varying between sweet, sour and many more glasses of wine will stay in our memory.

So if you look for a great place to stay south of lake Garda or planning a trip to Verona to go to the opera in the arena, stay at Casino di Caccia. It’s worth it. I gave it, just because of the experience a well deserved 5-star rating.

Update: In the time between our visit and today, I saw they upgraded the swimming pool. I added some new pictures as well.
