Five Nations ****
Rating: 8.0
The Five Nations Golf Club is located in the heart of the Belgium Ardennes. The club's name, "Five Nations," reflects its central position close to Germany, Luxembourg, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
Designed by renowned golfer Gary Player, the 18-hole, par 72 course blends a variety of landscapes. The front nine offers a walk through the forest, while the back nine presents a links-style layout. The course is known for its difficulty, with many holes surrounded by water hazards and thick roughs, challenging golfers of all skill levels.
The 13th is one of the more challanging par 3 holes. The first you might, like I did take a pitching wedge as it plays only 119 meters. Again, you might, like I did end up in the forrest beyond the green. Due to the big drop a soft sandwedge will do the job here. For better player a lob wedge might be the answer.
Beyond the main course, the club features a 3-hole practice course, which includes two par-3 holes and one par-4 hole, alongside a driving range. The Five Nations is affiliated with Golf Durbuy. The combination makes it an interesting golf weekend.
The club also offers a hotel facility. Many golf packages are offered with hotel, greenfee and dinner combined. I do suggest however you stay in the city of Durbuy nearby. You won;t be dissapointed. I can recommend hotel Victoria.
