Hilton Doubletree *****

Staying in Amsterdam is always nice. For one night, for a long weekend, as a tourist but also as a “Dutch local”, there is always something to do.

One of the better places to stay (especially if you come to Amsterdam by car) is the Double Tree Hilton hotel near the Central Station. Right under the Double Tree is the largest parking garage.

Parking (even when you do not stay in the hotel)

Cheap (50% less) compared to other parking garages in the center and always a lot of space. Take direction for the Oosterdok parking garage. When you enter the garage, keep right and continue all the way to the end. Now, you are under the hotel and can take the elevator up.

The room rates can vary quite a bit, depending on the time of the year or if there is something to do.

The rooftop bar

What I like a lot is the Sky Lounge (now called Luminar) on the 11th floor. A wonderful place with a great bar but even more important, an amazing view of the old city. By night you can see the illuminated bridges. That’s a view you won’t forget. I organized a Seagate conference once in the hotel with the welcome reception in Luminar. The feedback of the audience was priceless.

All together, a 5-star for me!
