Grand Hyatt *****

The Grand Hyatt is one of the best hotels in Seoul. I has been quiet a while since I visited Korea and the hotel as such. I used some updated photography to give an inside on the hotel.

The Grand Hyatt Seoul is an upscale hotel and offers very good service, elegant accommodations, and stunning views of the city and the surrounding mountains.

Rooms

The hotel offers a wide range of accommodations, from standard rooms to high end suites setting you down over $10.000 per night (for presidents, not for me). These rooms have plush furnishings, and large windows that offer panoramic views of either the city or the natural landscape.

Dining

One of the hotel's key features is its extensive range of dining options. It houses multiple restaurants and bars, each offering a unique culinary experience. From fine dining to casual eateries, the hotel caters to a variety of tastes and preferences, including authentic Korean cuisine (and Korean barbeque) and international dishes.

Facilities

The hotel offers top-tier facilities, including a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool with a scenic view and luxurious spa offering a range of treatments,

Anak

I never had an experience like this one. One of the night I stayed in the hotel bar a lady was singing at the piano. She was from the Philippines. I found it strange no one was sitting next to the piano. While I was really enjoying her singing, I saw a "songs menu" on the table.

My eye felt on one of the songs in the menu "Anak" from Freddie Aguilar, as singer, also from the Philippines. This was a big hit across Europe back in 1978. "Anak" is a Filipino song that tells the story of a child who was raised well by loving parents. However, as the child grows up, they become rebellious and take a wrong path in life, ignoring the advice and guidance of their parents. The song reflects on the pain and disappointment of the parents, as well as the regret and realization of the child, who eventually seeks forgiveness. It's a poignant narrative about family, the consequences of one's actions, and the enduring nature of parental love.

I asked her if she could sing the song for me. When she did, she was absolute amazing. However halfway, someone from behind the bar killed the music volume down with half. I saw the singer looking at me... she started to cry.

I offered her and the pianist a drink at my table and asked her what was going on here. I won't go in detail waht happend further but an hour later she sang the same song for me againg now with the volume back up and she and ended up with a $500 bonus and appologies from the hotel.

Overall, the Grand Hyatt Seoul stands out as a a great place to stay in one of Asia's most vibrant cities, offering an very good experience in luxury and comfort.
