Mandarin Oriental Hotel *****

Cheap, no not really but it is a superb hotel. I had the pleasure to stay a few times in the Mandarin Oriental. A wonderful place in the center of Barcelona. The staf provides excellent service with a warm welcome.

The rooms are very nice and have all the luxury you wish for. They also have very nice suites with a private balcony, a great spa and much more. If you ever stay in Barcelona, just to go to the bar and have a nice cocktail or a glas of wine. I am sure you will like it…. at least if you like “banks”. The Mandarin was created in an old bank building and the “Bankers” bar walls and ceiling show the old safe doors. A very interesting re-use of old materials.

The Mandarin also holds one of the best restaurants in Barcelona: Moments. Managed by chef Carme Ruscalleda and her son Raül Balam, Moments offers one of the finest gastronomic experiences in Barcelona. Having won seven Michelin stars for her restaurants in Spain and Tokyo, Ruscalleda is one of the most famous chefs in the country.

The rooftop bar is an ideal place to relax during your city trip. Even if you do not stay in the hotel, you are welcome., The views over Barcelona are one of the best.
