The Portmarnock Golf Club was founded in 1894 and located near Dublin. It is a prestigious and historic golf course known for its exceptional links golf experience. Established in the late 19th century, this course has a rich heritage and is regarded as one of the finest golf courses in Ireland (and I would say one of the best in Europe).

The course is set on a narrow tongue of shallow dunes. The natural terrain and coastal setting play a significant role in the course's layout, with the sea breeze adding an extra layer of challenge to the game. One of the most striking features of Portmarnock Golf Club is its scenic beauty. The course offers panoramic views of the Irish Sea and the surrounding landscapes, making it not just a golfing destination but also a place of natural beauty. The proximity to the sea ensures that the course presents different playing conditions depending on the weather, adding to its allure and difficulty.

It had been a long while since I played Portmarnock but as I remember, the holes are varied and require strategic thinking and skill to navigate. The bunkers, typical for the English and Irish links courses, are a challenge by itself. Stay out!

The clubhouse show history and tradition, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I also remember the pro-shop as the shirt (see picture) I bought at the time was very expensive but I still use it today.
