Sometimes you are lucky and find a place like the Burghotel. My son and I booked the hotel via the Dutch golf site PinHigh and to me this is the best place by far I stayed, booked with PinHigh. Located in the centre of the Count von Hardenberg estate, at the foot of the historic castle ruins, the Hardenberg BurgHotel offers you a refuge of classic elegance and rural idyll, unspoilt nature and modern comfort. Perfect for an unforgettable weekend for two or a round of golf.

Hotel

The Hardenberg BurgHotel offers you joie de vivre, pleasure and relaxation at the highest level and yet with a distinct family touch. That is the remit of your hosts Count Carl von Hardenberg and the Rosentreter family. With its two hotels, four restaurants, two of the finest golf courses in northern Germany as well as a large group of historic buildings, its castle park and other attractions, the estate offers the discerning tourists an extensive and varied program. Behind the concept is the Count von Hardenberg, who directs the whole concern in the ninth generation.

The terrace of the hotel overlooks a large horse riding arena. The estate organizes various competitive horse events during the year (you might even bring your own (although not sure about that). From the terrace you also have a view on the old castle ruins.

The food and service are in line with your expectation. Absolute 5-star! So if in the area, this is the place to stay. Just for a night or for a few days while enjoying the nearby estate golf courses.

Distillery

Hardenberg has stood for excellent ingredients and masterful distillation since 1700. The raw materials are not only cultivated on the Count’s estates in Lower Saxony, but also processed directly on site. Over 300 years of tradition, German distillery art and craftsmanship. With the “Hardenberg Distillery,” opened in 2019, the company is focusing on innovation based on tradition. Tradition, expertise and values remain fundamental, but the distillery has been modernized and opened to other product categories. From the combination of traditional production methods with modern refinement techniques, Hardenberg’s masters of the art of distilling create high-proof innovations and bring incredible flavors to life.

Golf

The Hardenberg is also popular as a golf hotel in Lower Saxony. Two of the most beautiful golf courses are only a few minutes away. Look forward to the 18-hole championship courses, Göttingen Course and Niedersachsen Course.
