The Dutch is an inland links course at international championship level and designed by Colin Montgomery and located in the village of Spijk. Initially I played there multiple times at the invitation of Jan Pieter, a valued partner of Seagate / EVault I worked for at the time. I also organized some partner events (the Dutch is well organized for that).

From 2016, for the first time in more than 30 years, the KLM Open was played here. “It might be a surprising choice,” agrees Tournament Director Daan Slooter. “But the choice for The Dutch is motivated by the possibilities for the tournament to grow further and we are convinced that the course will surpass expectations in 2016.”

The Dutch is a great course of outstanding quality. Over the years she will grow into a mature lady who’s difficult to manage. Opened in 2011, the environment needs time. The course is a challenge for professionals but stil playable for the average golfer. If you handicap goes beyond 30, you might will have a problem playing and still have fun (so I could still manage and have fun).

I must say it is a great course, surrounded within 20 kilometers by two other great courses: The Duke, owned by billionaire family van Eerd) and Bernardus (also owned by a billionaire, Robert van der Wallen), where the KLM OPen was hosted from 2020 to 2023.
