Its old….! The George is one of Cranbrook’s most historic buildings having played host to King Edward I in 1299, and Queen Elizabeth I in 1573. Yet the hotel’s rich history is fused with a contemporary twist – the magnificent staircase, flanked by two full suits of armour, leads up to 12 stunning, individually-designed rooms, combining period features with fresh, modern décor.

We really enjoyed the dinner. The restaurant offer a good but limited selection with perfect use of local ingredients. A very nice home made Chicken liver & foes gras parfait to start with and the Kentish Beef filet I got served was perfect and very tender. The staff was very friendly as well.

The hotel offers a good selection rooms, all different. When we stayed there, some rooms were modified with the latest of what you can expect.

The George is a good local place to stay when you want to enjoy the local beauty of the Kent and Sussex countryside. So if you look for an affordable country style hotel when you are in the southern Kent area, put The George on you list. The place is worth the 8.6 booking.com rating. I gave it a 4 star just because I enjoyed the atmosphere in a beautiful old place big time.
